21st Century Wonder Women

I was thinking about my favorite TV shows the other day, and I made a discovery about myself...

Alias:  female spy kicks butt and protects country while speaking 50 languages and wearing the coolest wigs ever

Buffy the Vampire Slayer:  female vampire slayer kicks vampire butt and saves world (at least three times) while making witty comments and looking flawless (just ask Cover Girl)

Bones:  female forensic anthropologist solves mysteries and kicks occasional butt while making snarky remarks and wearing gorgeous jewelry (though unfortunately socially inept)

Kim Possible:  female teenager kicks butt and saves world daily from cartoon villains while dealing with pimples and prom dates

Closer:  female homicide detective solves mysteries a la Sherlock Holmes and bullies suspects into confessions while consuming ridiculous amounts of chocolate stashed away in her desk drawer

Is this saying anything to anybody?

Spent a blissful and hectic few days in Chicago last weekend - wonderful time with family & friends.  Sorry for everyone we didn't get to see during our whirlwind weekend, but we were too busy playing with these little rascals - our nephews & nieces:

Happy 60th bday, Mom.

A Tale of Two Weddings

Sang and I went to two weddings in the last month.  Sang was a groomsman in Wedding #1, which took place in Philadelphia.  A good friend of mine from law school got married in Wedding #2, which was in Phoenix (we drove out from San Diego).  A comparison of the two:

Wedding #1:
Ceremony:  pretty traditional Christian morning wedding in a lovely church
Reception:  carnival - complete with ice sculptures, a cotton candy machine, a crayola coloring station, a candy bar, goldfish bowl centerpieces (with real goldfish!), foosball and air hockey tables,
photo booths (see below), and bouncing balls, parachute men, and plastic sunglasses as favors.

Wedding #2:

Ceremony:  pretty traditional Jewish evening wedding under the huppah outdoors
Reception:  black tie - tuxes, evening gowns, two bands (including a reggae band),
chair dances, divine desserts, abundant alcohol, all at the Phoenix Biltmore Resort (courtesy of Frank Lloyd Wright)

Funny how much a wedding reflects the couple's personality, isn't it?  Oh, and speaking of weddings... happy 3 month anniversary.     Ours was simple, fairly conventional, and dare we say... our personal favorite.
